At 10 months old, Whippet male dogs are typically still growing and may appear thin due to their fast metabolism and high energy levels. It is important to monitor their weight and body condition, as well as consult with a veterinarian to ensure they are receiving proper nutrition and are at a healthy weight for their age and breed. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the Whippet can both make great first dogs for the right owner. They are generally friendly, loyal, and easy to train. However, the Amstaff, or American Staffordshire Terrier, may not be the best choice for a first-time dog owner due to their strong-willed nature and need for consistent training and socialization. It's important to consider your lifestyle, experience level, and ability to provide proper training and exercise before choosing any of these breeds as a first dog. **
