Dogwoods can be propagated through several methods, including seeds, cuttings, and layering. To propagate from seeds, collect ripe berries in the fall, remove the seeds from the pulp, and plant them in a well-draining soil mix. For cuttings, take 4-6 inch long stem cuttings in the summer, dip them in rooting hormone, and plant them in a potting mix. Layering involves bending a low-hanging branch to the ground, wounding the underside, and covering it with soil to encourage root growth. Whichever method you choose, it's important to provide the right conditions for the new plants to establish and grow, including proper watering, light, and temperature. **

Additionally, the fruits of cornelian cherry are bright red and have a single seed, while dogwood fruits are typically white or blue and have multiple seeds. **

Sheep should not eat dogwood as it is toxic to them. Dogwood contains compounds that can be harmful to sheep if ingested, potentially causing symptoms such as gastrointestinal upset, weakness, and even respiratory distress. It is important to ensure that sheep have access to safe and appropriate forage to prevent any potential health issues. **

The disease of the dogwood is called dogwood anthracnose, which is caused by the fungus Discula destructiva. It typically appears as leaf spots, stem cankers, and dieback of branches. To treat dogwood anthracnose, it is important to prune and remove infected branches, improve air circulation around the tree, and avoid overhead watering. Fungicides can also be used as a preventative measure, but it is best to consult with a professional arborist for the most effective treatment plan. **
